“Marcos Everstijn’s set design is spare yet glamorous, somehow suggesting the grand luxury of Streisand’s mansion without recreating it.”
-Houston Chronicle Wei-Huan Chen
“Marcos Everstijn’s set is a simple chaise lounge and end table, and a dramatic shop window revealing the gown Barbra wore in Funny Girl. It’s intimate, elegant, and perfect for the show.”

“It’s also firmly rooted in the place where we are. A painted map of Seattle’s Central District by Marcos Everstijn covers the stage in bold lines, major street names rewritten: TRANS. CLOCKABLE. RELIGION. SEX. THEY. Ford and her dancers traverse through the bounds of thick painted lines, which are reminiscent of maps of Seattle’s historic redlining, racially discriminatory housing laws that kept neighorhoods segregated and contribute to present-day racial divides. But the dancers are fluid; they can’t be contained.”

The show floor was later used for a Kamala Harris Presidential campaign event. I was driving to the Langston to strike the set and paint over the floor when I got a call indicating Mrs, Harris was asking for permission to use the floor. She and her team saw the floor and thought it would be perfect for her Seattle event. I painted over our “street names” and made it a basic map of the Central District, at her team’s request.

“Marcos Everstijn (scenic designer) and David Gipson (lighting designer) deserve special mention, as the set was incredible. Before the play even starts, you feel as if you are being drawn into a set straight from “White Christmas”, with vivid colors, whimsical Christmas trees, and a gorgeous full moon.”
